Doughboyz Cashout x The Session
While here in Detroit I got to really collect alot of elements I've been used to all my life. My family has been keeping me entertained and my brother Mars is even more of a beast now with his designs, makes Fli Pelican even tougher.
The Call:
"Meet me out for lunch."
Me: "bet. I know a good Cuban spot in Royal Oak...Little Havana."
We Link:
Who I'm meeting this time is someone of great stature and hard work. She's the stylist to the stars, but a down to earth 7mile bred hustler.
Her: We'll meet the guys at 8pm.
I order the Carne' Asada, one of my favorite dishes and we discuss Detroit at a standpoint of Deterioration as a city. Discussing a few troubling issues we head to the car, heading to the studio L lit. We pull up, in a familiar place to me as my aunt stays close.
Me: "This the place?"
Her: "Yea"
I'm grabbing my bag out the Trunk full of straight drop exclusive gear.
We enter.
Tension is high, but hell..We in the D. Now I'm in the room w/ Doughboy Cashout.
I wanted to work with my hometown on a project, quite frankly their the go to guys. With a rapid climb to the top of the spin charts in Detroit and thousands of sold units in the street, not to mention as I would find out, some trill mofos.
As I'm emptying my garment bag, their matching them up with their style. I was glad everyone found pieces they loved. That's why I do it.
We discuss the shoot tomorrow with Dante Marshall (The Art Direction) and its set in stone. Now I'm getting exclusive material played for me and all I could think is...Who was in the room when 2pac or Wu Tang were on the cusp of blowing up internationally. Instantly I marked this as history. It's not every day people get to do this w/ artist and for this reason I gesture my first fingers across my chest, stomach and forehead in a prayer.
Ok, I gotta get ready for the next day.
Detroit Love.
Luxury S#it. I'm in Miami next.
